WISP charity shop in Maristow Street will be closing at the end of February, citing the economic climate and a lack of volunteers.

WISP (Westbury Incorporating Surrounding Parishes) shop was set up with the ethos of assisting local organisations and good causes in Westbury and the surrounding villages from the shop's income, with the funds being donated to causes in the local area only. A trust of leading town figures was set up to distribute the funds.

Having only opened in May last year, unfortunately the shop is having to close due to the economic climate. The charity Christine Mitchell, chairman of WISP said, "It is with regret that we, the trustees have to inform your readers that the WISP charity shop will be closing down at the end of February. This has come about because of the current economic climate and the difficulty in recruiting volunteers to assist in the shop. After the closure we will be making donations to Westbury Link and the Westbury First Responders. May we take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and generous donations."

It's such a shame that this charity shop will be closing and yet again the shop (the former betting shop) will be empty again.
