On Saturday 4th February, it is officially National Libraries Day.

National Libraries Day is devoted to all types of libraries, library users, staff and supporters across the UK. Across Wiltshire and the UK there will be many organised events, and you can join in too by visiting Westbury library on the 4 February or the week leading up to it.

Westbury Library are holding a Pirates and princesses themed activity day on Saturday from 10am until noon, for parents and carers with children aged up to 11.

You can also go along to Warminster Library, where they are holding a drop-in crafts session running from 10am until 3.30pm on Saturday.

Wiltshire Council cabinet member Stuart Wheeler said: "National Libraries Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the vital role libraries play at the heart of local communities. I encourage all people to visit their local library, not just on 4th February but all year round and take advantage of the fantastic services they have to offer."

The council committed itself to safeguarding all 31 of its libraries last year, partly by encouraging volunteer staff.
